Castle Cottage – offering quality accommodation right at the heart of Lochcarron village. With a waterfront location and amazing sea views, this is a wonderful spot from which to explore the NW Highlands of Scotland, as a staging point along the NC500 or as a stopover on the way to/from Skye! “Beautiful little b&b located in a quiet yet stunning village. Amazing views over the Loch and easy, accessible parking. From the get go Lorna and Gary were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. Our room was gorgeous and incredibly clean which was a nice change from the camper van we were currently travelling around Scotland in. They also upgraded our room for no extra price which was lovely and an unexpected gesture. The bed was comfy, the shower/bath was hot and Lorna’s food was out of this world. Real home cooked meals made with love. We had a great nights sleep and felt incredibly refreshed the next morning. We also loved how homely the b&b felt with Lorna and Gary’s own pictures on the walls which added a very personal touch. Lorna and Gary made sure to abide to all COVID-19 restrictions taking it very seriously and ensuring all guests and themselves, were as safe as possible. We appreciated the effort they had put into this especially considering how horrible it must be to wear a mask in your own home! Yet they were completely professional and followed all protocols. We booked this b&b a couple of hours before arriving after getting engaged the same afternoon, and Lorna and Gary ensured we had a very special night by making us feel so welcomed. All in all, if you’re looking for a heart warming meal and good nights sleep with super hosts, this is the place for you.”

Lorna and Gary are two of the most welcoming people I’ve ever met – both extremely warm and friendly. The B+B itself is situatated right on the edge of the loch and is a 2 minute walk from everything Lochcarron has to offer. Beds are comfortable and rooms are very cosy and homely. Nothing was an issue, and the brekfast was second to none. Thank you both for making me feel so comfortable in your home.

I have so many dietary requirements, I expected to be buying something along the way for breakfast when we set off on our trip the next day but they did everything they could to make sure I had something to eat. (in my head there was no way I would be offered veggie sausages and almond milk ‘in the middle of nowhere’?!) There’s so much more I could say but we had a wonderful stay! I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re on the NC500, on the way to Skye or even just want a little break away for a night or 2.”

After staying the previous night in a very snowy Ullapool, in a freezing cold hotel, my wife and I were pleased to get to the fantastic castle cottage, in the beautiful village of Lochcarron. We received a lovely warm welcome from Lorna who is a lovely woman, who was always willing to chat and recommend things as was her husband Gary. We had a beautiful double room with a view of Lochcarron, it has a king size bed, and a huge bathroom with separate shower and wonderful corner bath. Breakfast was a very hot, and tasty full cooked breakfast, preceded by cereal, with toast, and plenty of hot Yorkshire Tea. Lorna and Gary gave us a couple if names of places to try for food, The Lochcarron Hotel, and the Carron restaurant which about 10min drive out of Lochcarron on the Kyle of lochalash road, as we had a 2nt stay we tried both ( the fish and chips at the carron are fantastic). We cannot recommend castle cottage highly enough, it is a gem of a B/B, and we will be going back when next in the area

Lorna was prompt to respond, communicated very well. She did not act like checking in at 9pm was a huge dent in her day which was even more welcoming and inviting. Her beds were so comfortable….omg…..I feel like my body was stuck to the bed in the morning. But the full Scottish Breakfast was to die for! I really appreciated the small touches to the amenities as well: stickers on the toilet paper to let u know it was yours, perfectly laid out soft sheets on the bed that hardly looked touched, the artisan black pudding and even letting me take a picture of her because I was so impressed at her running to and fro to ensure our stay with her was the absolute BEST! Out of all the B&B’s I have stayed in – this one felt like a 5 star B&B – It nearly convinced me that I need to move to Loch Carron. So glad I found this diamond in the rough 😉 ps- ask her husband about all his climbing adventures – you won’t regret it- TRUST ME! Cheers and have a great time in Scotland
